中文文法 Chinese Grammar - "在 Zài" 用法

In the articel, the grammar 在 is for beginner level. I will provide the basic 在 usage.

1. S + 在 + 具體地點 ( physical location)

我在學校。 I => subject, 在學校 => at school。

wǒ zài xuéxiào

媽媽在廚房。 mom =>subject, 在廚房 => in the kitchen

māmā zài chúfáng

弟弟在哪裡?　brother => subject, 在哪裡 => where

　弟弟在房間? brother => subject, 在房間 => place: in the room

dìdì zài nǎlǐ

dìdì zài fángjiān

我們在博物館。We => subject 在博物館 => at the museum.

wǒmen zài bówùguǎn

我在公園。 I => subject, 在公園 => in the park

wǒ zài gōngyuán

2. S + 在 + Verb Noun => mean V+ing

我在看書。 I => subject, 在看書=> reading

wǒ zài kànshū

我在穿衣服 I => subject, 在穿衣服 => putting on clothes

wǒ zài chuān yīfú

弟弟在玩遊戲 brother => subject, 在玩遊戲 => playing games

dìdì zài wán yóuxì

我們在做功課 we =>subject, 在做功課 => doing homework

wǒmen zài zuò gōngkè

3. S +在 + 具體地點(Physical location) + Verb + Noun

=> combine 1 &2 to make sentence longer. Remember: location is alway before verb in Mandarin.

我在學校學中文 I => subject, 在學校 =>at school, 學=>chstudy, 中文=>chinese

wǒ zài xuéxiào xué zhōngwén

媽媽在廚房煮菜 mom => subject, 在廚房 => in the kitchen, 煮=>make 菜=> food

māmā zài chúfáng zhǔ cài

我們在博物館參觀展覽 We => subject, 在博物館 =>at the museum, 參觀=>visit, 展覽=>exhibition

wǒmen zài bówùguǎn cānguān zhǎnlǎn

我在公園散步 I => subject, 在公園 => in the park, 散=> go , 步=> walk

wǒ zài gōngyuán sànbù
